I Masturbated Everyday for a Whole Month with the Lioness Vibrator: Here's What I Learned

After 8 years of engineering smart vibrators and reading sex research papers for fun, I’m finally ready to admit that I *might* be a big sex nerd. And as someone that grew up in a religious, conservative, Korean family where I was scared of my own body well into my mid-twenties, I can't help but still chuckle to myself every time I post my orgasm data for the world to see (in the name of science, of course!). What can I say? I truly believe in the saying, “knowledge is pleasure” and I’m here to do my part and share as much knowledge as possible. :)

In the past, I’ve usually used the Lioness Smart Vibrator to measure my "typical" masturbation and orgasm data and compare it to masturbation sessions with external factors like stress, cannabis lube or even showerheads to see how it changes my orgasms. However, this time, I decided to commit to masturbating with the Lioness vibe every single day for an entire month and log every aspect of the experience: mood, arousal level, what I used to get off, etc. in order to collect as much data as possible. Then together with a wonderful data analyst, Natalie, who was very open to this wild idea of mine, we worked to find trends in the data to see if we could find any statistically significant results. Was this the best use of my spare time throughout the month? Absolutely. Would my parents agree? No one tell them why I’ve been hard to reach this month. Anyways, let's start!

The length of time for each masturbation session was all automatically measured through the Lioness vibe and app. The total time spent masturbating in the month was 3 hours 34 minutes and 58 seconds which is only about 0.5% of the month. Not bad! Within that time, I spent an accumulative total of 9 minutes and 26 seconds having an orgasm. Four of the days during the month I wasn't able/gave up trying to have an orgasm because I was feeling down and stressed about life.

The longest orgasm was on the Day 19. That day, I had used an additional toy anally for double penetration and it caused me to have an orgasm that lasted a whopping 58.6 seconds!

Data Analysis Finding 1: For every additional 10 seconds I spent masturbating, there was an increase in the orgasm length by 0.14 seconds.

For the time of day masturbated, I split the hours of the day between morning, afternoon, evening, and late night and found that I most often masturbated during the afternoon. This was surprising since I thought I was always a late night kind of gal.

Next, I arranged all my sessions by my app tags as to what I did both mentally and physically during my masturbation session. The Lioness vibe was always inserted vaginally to measure the data, but I also supplemented clitoral stimulation with other vibrators and sometimes fingers. Also, I took into account what I was doing mentally for each session- whether it was just focusing on "being in the moment", watching porn, or just using my good ol' imagination for spicy fantasies.

Next, I also kept track of my overall mood both before I started masturbating and after. I gave it a self-report scale between 0-5: 0 being "I'm having a completely, absolute sh*t day" to 5 being "I'm feeling out-of-this-world fantastic". As you can see, masturbating typically gave me a net positive and sometimes neutral mood change. The four times it was a negative mood change was the four times I couldn't reach orgasm due to stress. The frustration ended up putting me in a worse mood. It can be a vicious cycle!

Data Analysis Finding 2: Masturbating and having an orgasm statistically significantly put me in a better mood afterwards.

Finally, I also tracked my arousal levels which were also on a self-reported scale of 0-5: 0 being "I am dry as the Sahara desert, I find spreadsheets arousing" and 5 being "I should be the mascot for the Raging Horndogs". It went up and down through the entire month- just really depended on what was going on that day. However, the data analyst did find something really interesting:

Data Analysis Finding 3: There was statistical significant increase of 4.9
seconds in orgasm length the more aroused I was before masturbating.

Overall, this was an incredibly silly and fun 'lil experiment to do! I ended up learning a little bit more about myself than I expected and it was cool to have it backed by data. Thanks to the incredible data analyst, Natalie, I was able to have three huge takeaways:
  1. Masturbating: The longer I spend masturbating and edging, the longer the orgasms tend to be.
  2. Mood: Masturbating and having orgasms put me in a significantly better mood overall.
  3. Arousal: The more aroused I am beforehand, the more likely I am to have an orgasm and the longer the orgasms are.
