I Tracked My Orgasm To See If Suction Vibrators Are Better

If you’re reading sex toy news every day like I normally am (business as usual, I suppose), you’ve probably been hearing all the rage lately about these suction-based clitoral stimulators like Lelo Sona, Womanizer, and Satisfyer Pro. They claim to be a new type of female masturbators where instead of the traditional vibration directly on your clitoris, it creates a suction motion onto your visible portion of the clitoris. There have been so many reviews from customers swearing that they orgasmed in under 30 seconds and that it’s the best orgasm they’ve ever had.

Well, at this point in my life, it has pretty much become my mission to find the best orgasm of my life. I can’t ignore all these rave reviews from people swearing by this style of vibrators, so I finally caved and bought theLelo Sona Cruise. OnLelo’s website it claims that the Sona Cruise is “...the sonic massager that stimulates 75% of your clitoris for a feeling that will change your life…” How can I say no to something like that?

Ear thermometer or a clit suction vibe? Who would know!

So today, I’m here to share with you my masturbation data results collected with theLioness Vibrator of what my orgasm looked like using the Lelo Sona Cruise to find out if clitoral suction vibrators are actually better.

Why do Suction Vibrators Work?

Although the craze seems to have happened to the mass general public in the past 3 years, clitoral suction stimulators have actually been around for a long time in the sex toy world. In the past, it’s kind of been categorized in the “fetish” category under things likepussy pumps and snake bite kits (like, actual kits for snake bites!) The idea is increasing blood flow to your clitoris and genitalia will improve and stimulate arousal. In fact, many researchers have conducted studies in the medical research world on how vacuum-suction based clitoral stimulators could improve female sexual dysfunction formultiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury, andcervical cancer patients. Most of the studies tend to conclude there is a potential to increase arousal and alleviate sexual dysfunction for different situations. So, there is some science behind these type of clitoral vibrators.

The Orgasm Results

I first tried using my Lioness with its normal vibration settings on and then waited a few days to try it with the Lelo Sona. I set my Lioness to only record my vaginal contractions and got to town with the Lelo Sona Cruise as my clitoral stimulator.

Here’s the graph zoomed in on the orgasms from both masturbation sessions:

Vaginal contraction orgasms comparison of regular vibration stimulation vs. Lelo Sona Cruise

As you can see above, the blue is a normal session with vibration stimulation and the pink is the Lelo Sona Cruise. To be honest, the orgasm didn’t differ THAT much in terms of quantitative data. The vibration stimulation orgasm lasted about 7 seconds while the suction stimulation orgasm lasted around 10 seconds. Other than that, my orgasm pattern looks really similar in both frequency and amplitude for both sessions.

Although the orgasm comparison data wasn’t that exciting, I did find something more interesting about the data compared for the entire session:

Vaginal contractions during masturbation - comparison of regular vibration stimulation vs. Lelo Sona Cruise

I think the significant difference was that in the Lelo Sona Cruise session (pink), I had multiple large spikes throughout the masturbation session before the orgasm (e.g 18-33 seconds and 49-56 seconds). Those occurred because the sensation that the suction created was SO. INTENSE. Even when I put it to the lowest setting, it was a lot of overwhelming stimulation on the clitoris. It made me involuntarily flinch my body and vaginal muscles...explaining those large spikes all over the place. The more I think about it now, I’m pretty sure if I held out at those moments without jerking back, I could have actually orgasmed then and there...but I just wasn’t mentally prepared for it!

The best analogy I can think of is going down a slide. Vibration stimulation is like when you take your time to go up the ladder to the top of the slide and then gently slide down to satisfaction and happiness. Suction stimulation is like being hoisted up the ladder and then being shoved down the slide without any time to prepare, or take a breath, leaving you totally disoriented and pumped with adrenaline.

Some days you want to take your time, some days you want to be shoved down.

I think suction sex toys like the Lelo Sona would be really great for people that do need the stronger stimulation to get to orgasm or would like to orgasm more quickly. The suction sensation does feel quite unique and “deeper” than your standard vibration stimulation which I think is worth trying out and you know...sometimes you just need a good shove down the slide. ;)
